SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL (SVdP)
Our Thanksgiving Drive is coming up: envelopes will be available in our church on Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend.
If you know of a family experiencing a hardship, please direct them to call the church office and leave a message on our SVdP line. A Vincentian will call within 24 hours. We can help with evictions, food and clothing needs, and utility shut-offs for parishioners and anyone living within our parish boundaries. People who live outside our parish boundaries will be referred to the SVdP conference that serves their area.
We are looking for new members! If you are interested in joining us in our mission, please feel welcome to attend one of our meetings. We meet monthly on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 pm. All are welcome! We would love new members! Please call the SVdP line if you have questions (248.649.5510, ext. 112).

SAINT DOMINIC OUTREACH
Serving the needs of eligible individuals and families in the Detroit community, Saint Dominic Outreach continues to supply food pantry groceries (and much more). Donations may be made on their website: https://www.stdominicoutreach.org/donate.html
Also grateful for the food items brought to our large blue bin at our Coolidge church entrance: pull-tab canned salmon, ham, chicken, ravioli, spaghetti; stovetop, boxed-rice and macaroni-and-cheese meals; packets of tuna, etc. With any questions, please feel free to call the center at 313.831.6070.
THANK YOU to all who donated blood and helped at the March blood drive! The Red Cross desperately needs pints of blood! If you can donate for the next blood drive on Monday, January 8, at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church at 2225 East 14 Mile Road in Birmingham, please click here to register, call Pat Dobosenski at 248.422.4729, or scan this qr code:
If you will be a blood donor (thank you!) the Red Cross suggest that, beforehand, you:
- Drink water: A good portion of the blood donated is made up of water, so be sure to drink water before and after donating. Most locations advise drinking about 16 ounces of water beforehand. This will help reduce fatigue and dizziness after donating by keeping your body hydrated and replenished.
- Eat iron-rich foods: What is the best thing to eat before giving blood? Iron-rich foods such as chicken, red meat, fish, spinach, broccoli, beans, iron-certified cereals, and lentils are essential for helping your body replace the red blood cells you lose during donation.
If you would like to sign up to be considered as a bone marrow donor and are between the ages of 18 - 44, please visit www.bethematch.
